Reference Controls

For successful interpretation of your results in an environment where you often need to differentiate between vaccine induced antibodies and field infections, accuracy as well as precision for results are vital.
Accurate results ensure the true titer of a sample whereas precise results will ensure the same titer of a specific samples over time and over different batches.

Figure 1 shows the difference in an illustrative manner.

But how do you know if your titers are both accurate and precise?
This is where reference controls make the difference. The reference controls are positive sera with known titers and target ranges.

When reference controls are in range, your result is accurate and precise and the test result is valid.
